About this tour
Take an unforgettable tour to a time when oppression reigned, when out of the struggle against tyranny, leaders emerged in the name of equality and freedom to make South Africa all that it is today…
Our tour begins at the luxurious V&A Waterfront. Find the ideal souveniers for friends and family back home, while you indulge in unique South African jewellery or designer labels at affordable prices at this shopperโs paradise.
An optional visit to the Two Oceans Aquarium at the Waterfront promises to be worth the shopping break. Named in honour and celebration of Cape Town as the point where the Atlantic and Indian oceans merge, The Two Oceans Aquarium is home to some 3000 living sea animals, including sharks.
Then take a beautiful boat ride to a UN World Heritage site. Robben Island is a six-square kilometre tribute to the struggle for freedom and every inch echoes with the pains of yesterday and an unshakable hope for tomorrow.
Because of its isolated positioning, Robben Island served as a place of captivity for some of the greatest and most visionary men who contributed to this land. Founders of Islam and Xhosa chiefs who rebelled against British rule were all banished here at various points in history, but Robben Island is perhaps most infamous as the place where former president, Nelson Mandela, was kept prisoner for 25 years. Take a tour of the prison and feel the unsettled energy that will forever creep between the concrete of the prison cells.
We conclude our tour back at the vibrant V&A Waterfront where we will encounter a famous diamond jeweller and be mesmerised by his precious pieces.
