Garden Route Tour

About this tour

Four days and three nights

Day One
We set out along Cape Route 62. World-renowned for more than its awe-inspiring landscapes, this is one of the longest wine routes in the world. The R62 will take us through some of the Western Cape’s most historical and quaint towns, including Worcester with its undiscovered charm and the old-worldly ambience of Robertson that is complimented so well with Victorian architecture and wine tasting.

We also pass through Ladismith, where cheese factories churn a splendor of treats and fruit farms fragrance our journey with a hint of sweetness. Breathe the fresh mountainous air and brace yourself for our final stop of the day, the ostrich capital of the world – Oudtshoorn. Here we will visit an ostrich show farm where you are bound to make some feathery friends!

Day Two
After a peaceful night’s rest, indulge in a hearty breakfast that will whet your appetite for the rest of the day’s exciting activities. The mid-morning and early afternoon adventures include a visit to Africa’s only show cave and one of the magnificent wonders of the world – the Cango Caves. Then experience the incomparable Cango Wildlife Ranch, where animal lovers can get up and close with some of Africa’s most magnificent creatures, including lions and tigers. And if you are especially brave at heart, then truly become one with nature when you touch a cheetah or even dive with a crocodile!

Now that you have experienced the best that Oudtshoorn has to offer, our journey continues through the scenic pass of the Outeniqua Mountains as we make our way to Knysna,
the heart of the Garden Route, where we will spend the night.

Day Three
After breakfast we set out to explore one of the country’s most picturesque and award-winning towns. Knysna is lined with seemingly endless stretches of unspoiled beaches and indigenous forests of lush vegetation. Interact with Africa’s gentle giants at the Knysna Elephant Park and take an awe-inspiring walk to Storms River mouth at the Tsitsikamma National Park.

Time permitting, other attractions include Nature’s Valley, Birds of Eden, Monkeyland and the Garden of Eden which lives up to its auspicious name. Knysna may be appreciated for its serenity, but we need not go far for an adrenaline kick. We’ll stop at Bloukrans Bridge, the site of the highest bungee jump in the world. Are you brave enough to plunge head-first some 216 metres into midair?

Day Four
Enjoy the last day’s scrumptious breakfast before we depart the magnificent Knysna for Mossel Bay with its informative Dias museum, Cape St. Blaze Cave and a fabulous photo-op at the town’s lighthouse.

The journey back to Cape Town promises to be as eventful, with a world-famous health and wellness stop at the Alcare Aloe Factory in Albertinia and a stroll through the farmlands of our apple capital in Grabouw.

The Sir Lowry’s Pass route back into Cape Town, with its magnificent mountain range and breathtaking scenery is an ideal finale to the tour and a perfect opportunity to
reflect and savour your new collection of Cape memories.
